Confessions from a Drama Junkie: It's Time to Rise.
Do you have the Ophelia Complex?
You know..... that secret, insidious gravitation and deep attraction toward the dramatic?
Stuff like tornadoes and rain storms and tragedies and twists of uncontrollable fate like pandemics?
A. No, you're crazy. You should see someone about that.
B. Yes, I do, how did you know???
If you answered A, you may want to stop reading.
If you answered B, you are my people and we should share a box of Milk Duds sometime. Then brush our teeth.
***************************
Why do I crave this?
Because then life would no longer be up to me.
Then I could blame my business failure on the drama.
Then I could be relieved of all responsibility.
Because it was really JUST TOO MUCH, anyway.
I call it the Ophelia Complex because I had a poster of Shakespeare's Ophelia, dead in the water, in my house for many years.
And while it may have seemed creepy to some (read: everyone) and suicidal to others........... for me it simply represented the Ultimate Surrender.
Relief.
Exhale.
Unclenching.
Sphincter release.
And I am only NOW encouraging that drowning Ophelia to RISE FROM THE STREAM. To love herself. To know she is awesome. To realize that she is enough, EVEN if she can't figure everything out.
The good news, DEAR ONE, is that it doesn't have to be all or nothing!
YOU are a PIECE of BEAUTIFUL WORK.
Let's REVEAL your brilliance, ONE layer at a time.
Remember, I am in the business of transformation.
